A dog from the Philippine Islands showed what it meant to be a true friend when a 7.2-magnitude earthquake rocked Cebu City. This became evident in a short clip that was shared multiple times online. The viral video has been viewed almost 600,000 times and has received many positive comments from people all over the world.
Going back for a friend
The video, which is shown below, is actually a composite of two video sources—one from the outside and one from the interior of what seems to be a store. The clip started with just an ordinary scenario; people walking calmly on the side of the road and cars driving. Then without any warning, the ground started shaking.
You could see the walls of the building violently moving from side to side. Parked vehicles were rocking; then the people started running outside to the middle of the street. They were trying to steer clear of the buildings in case they fall over. Then more people rushed out and got to the middle of the street to where the road island was.
Then from one of the stores, a dog came rushing out too. But he didn’t go to the middle of the street just yet. When the loyal dog was about three feet from the door, he stopped, turned around, and looked at the building. He then started running back inside.
The video then switches to another perspective; it’s now showing the inside of the small store. The clip then started featuring the scene where the dog went running out and coming back in after a few seconds. It showed him running off-camera then re-emerging soon after. This time he was running outside following another dog.
It seemed that the other dog was too scared to go out. So when the dog noticed that his friend was left behind, he went back in to get him. He probably pushed the dog to go out, so that’s why he was behind him. In any case, it was a fine show of bravery, loyalty, and love.
