Aria and Grace Keilbach are passionate and dedicated dog rescuers. However, they don’t have a huge rescue organization and they don’t even have a lot of support or volunteers to help them. They would just drive around Saipan with dog food at the back of their vehicle and feed whatever dog that they can find wandering the street.
Aria and Grace started rescuing dogs when they met a stray dog that they later named Honey. When Aria and Grace found Honey, she was so thin that they could almost see all her bones sticking out from under the skin. Honey was in a horrible condition and they also found out that Honey was nursing puppies.
Despite being hungry, Honey was so friendly that she went near the two girls asking for some belly rubs and pets. Aria and Grace wanted to take Honey home with them but because they saw that Honey was still nursing her puppies, they knew that they had to leave her in the streets to feed her babies. So, Aria and Grace decided to keep coming back to feed Honey every day.
Honey trusted Aria and Grace so much that she even started to introduce the two girls to her pack. Eventually, Aria and Grace started to feed all the other strays and they even started taking some of the puppies home. Aria and Grace would foster the puppies and eventually find people willing to adopt them.
After Aria and Grace rescued all the puppies, they figured that it was time for them to take Honey back home with them. This was after six months of going back to the same spot to feed Honey and her pack. Eventually, Honey was so calm during the entire process and she adjusted quickly to her new life as a house dog.
Many people really don’t know how challenging it is to rescue stray dogs. Aria and Grace know how difficult it is but they love what they do and they wouldn’t trade it for the world. Aria and Grace aren’t a large animal rescue organization but they do what they can to help any way they can to rescue stray dogs in Saipan. Here’s a truly remarkable video showing how Aria and Grace got started into rescuing dogs after they found Honey.
