Somewhere in Malaysia, residents reported two stray pregnant dogs roaming under a bridge. The two dogs gave birth at the part of the bridge near the approach ramp. That part of the bridge was dry and only had space just big enough for dogs. One of the dogs made a den behind a pile of rocks, while the other mother dog preferred a more open area.
A local animal center received the report and promptly sent a team to check the situation. Upon reaching the site, the group quickly spotted the two dogs. The place may be dry, but the source for food could be a problem for the two mother dogs. Discarded construction materials, dirt, and rocks were all over the place.
The dogs were easy to find
They decided to secure the one resting on its side, feeding its puppies first before going after the other dog. The rescuers carefully carried the puppies into the dog carriers they brought with them. The mother dog just watched the team do its work. The dog followed them when they loaded the dog carriers into the rescue vehicle.
The other mother dog took refuge deep in a space under the ramp. A rescuer had to crawl to reach the dogs. He carried and passed every puppy to the waiting hands of his team members. The team placed the puppies carefully into the dog carriers. The rescuer tied a leash around the mother dog before pulling her out of its make-shift den.
Getting all the dogs to safety
The rescuers collected 22 puppies with both mother dogs safely secured. The team went home happy with their successful rescue. The animal center’s veterinarians gave each dog a thorough medical check-up and fortunately found them in good health.
Under the animal center’s care, the dogs have a safe home with abundant food. The dogs also receive sufficient medical care and vaccinations. In just a few weeks, the puppies have grown big and healthy. The animal center exhibits these dogs whenever visitors come. The center is hopeful that the dogs will have new homes very soon.
