Unlike people, most dogs often live very simple and laidback lives. Those that live a more hectic life are called working or service dogs. Of course, some dogs that aren’t in those professions can also have a busy life, but they are rare.
An example of a dog that leads a busy life is Mongi. She lives in a Buddhist temple, so some might think she has nothing to do. Yet unbeknownst to many, she sneaks out from time to time to meet tourists.
Since the temple is located on top of a mountain, Mongi often meets up with hikers. She acts as their tour guide and points them in the right direction. She gets a lot of snacks and praise whenever she does this.
It’s all fun and games for Mongi, but her owner is worried about her. The owner fears that the dog’s joint health might be at risk because of the constant hikes. There have been several attempts to put Mongi on a leash to keep her safe, but she ends up depressed if she’s tied up.
Whenever Mongi’s freedom is taken away, she refuses to eat as a form of protest. Furthermore, her expressions become gloomy if she can’t go out and meet hikers. Only when her leash is off, she return to her cheerful self and have no problem eating.
To put the owner at ease, a veterinarian went to the temple one day to check the dog’s health. The vet had to hike for a few hours to get to the location, but he got there eventually. Unlike the time it took to get to Mongi, the health checkup only lasted a few minutes but yielded positive results.
The vet confirmed that Mongi has no health issue, so there’s nothing to worry about. Her joints are perfectly fine and showed no damage even after constant hikes. Additionally, the vet put a microchip on Mongi, so she’ll eventually make her way back to her owner if she gets lost.
