Oakley and Aspen are sibling puppies that ended up at a local rescue center in Tennessee. Luckily for them, they were adopted together. They traveled to North Carolina, where their new mom and dad, Kristin and Jay, waited for their arrival.
The couple adopted the puppies for two reasons – to provide them a home and to have additional help in caring for their farm animals. Kristin and Jay run Ziggy’s Refuge Farm Sanctuary, a haven for rescued farm animals. They do their best in caring for every animal under their care but they agree they need extra help.
Willie, a pug, and Ziggy, a pig, were the first animals Oakley and Aspen met when they arrived at the sanctuary. Willie was a little unsure of the newcomers but he warmed up to them before the day ended. Ziggy, meanwhile, welcomed the duo pretty well. As the king of the farm, he kind of approved of them staying.
The couple’s plan for the first several days was to simply let the puppies have fun. Oakley and Aspen, however, had something else in mind. They were excited to meet everyone and they couldn’t wait to be on the job.
After spending their first two days at home causing trouble, it’s time for Oakley and Aspen to go to work. They followed their mom and dad to the farm but they were yet to know their parents’ routine. Instead of going to the goats’ pen, they insisted on joining the pigs inside the corral.
Oakley and Aspen are identical but their personalities are unique from one another. Oakley, being the older brother, is more dominant and straightforward. Aspen, on the other hand, is just a sweet little angel who loves to cuddle with anyone.
Despite the differences between Oakley and Aspen, there’s one thing that they share – their love for the pigs. Every day, the siblings are excited to meet the pigs, Ziggy in particular. They help their dad feed them and they spend more time in the pigpen.
Oakley and Aspen still have so much to learn. But with their enthusiasm, there’s no doubt they’d be great protectors of their farm animal siblings in the near future.
