A lot of rescue dogs living in shelters have lived as strays all their life. They don’t know anything about human interaction, and if they did have some sort of interaction with humans before when they were strays, it’s usually bad. It takes time for dogs to realize that they’re finally in a safe environment when they get adopted by loving families.
Some dogs that get adopted into forever homes can be nervous at first. They’re unfamiliar with their new environment, and they may be cautious or even terrified that they will seek a hiding place to be away from their new human families. A rescue dog named Sunny did just that when her new dad, Alex, adopted her.
When Alex first took Sunny home, Sunny was so scared that she never left her crate for two days. When Sunny did leave the crate, Sunny was extremely cautious and didn’t fully trust Alex. Alex realized that he was probably Sunny’s first family and Sunny’s never experienced living inside a house before.
Alex was determined to help Sunny as best he could by giving her all the love she deserved. After a few more days, Sunny started warming up to Alex, and Alex was extremely patient with Sunny. Alex knew that it would take some time for Sunny to adjust.
When Sunny was a little more trusting around Alex, Alex decided that it was time for him to take Sunny out on a camping trip. Alex didn’t expect the amount of change that the camping trip will have on Sunny’s personality.
Sunny loved being outdoors with Alex. Sunny was able to run around outside without a leash, and she also got to experience a lot of new things. Sunny also felt that it was okay to be outside without a leash and that she also gets to come home with her new dad after the trip.
After the camping trip, Sunny completely opened up. She trusted Alex more, and Sunny also began to show her sweet side. Here’s a heartwarming video showing Sunny’s transformation from a timid puppy to an energetic and loving dog that loves cuddling with her dad.
