Olena Pyanov, the chieftain behind the charitable institution Love Furry Friends, was on her way to feed a pack of stray dogs when she saw a little puppy hiding in the bush. She’s never seen the puppy before, and besides, all the dogs she cared for were adults. So either it was a stray that came from somewhere or someone abandoned it in the area.
The rescuer knew the puppy won’t survive in the industrial area so she decided to help the little one. But only once she was closer did she realize that it was in dire need of help. The poor puppy had a skin condition and was clearly in pain.
Before taking any action, Olena decided to feed the puppy first. She offered it some wet food but it turned its head away and refused to eat. Moments later, it took a bite straight from her hand, and when it realized the food tasted great, it ate a little more.
It was urgent for the puppy to see the vet so Olena decided to take it to the clinic first. She gently grabbed it and carried it to her car. On their way, she comforted the little guy and promised that she’ll do whatever it takes for it to have a better life.
At the clinic, the vets estimated the puppy was between 4 and 5 months old. They also revealed it suffered from Canine demodicosis, a condition where mites inhabit the hair follicles, causing severe irritation and rashes. But while its condition sounded extreme, all the puppy needed were a few rounds of antibiotics and lots of rest.
The puppy, now Zhora, recovered in no time. For the first time, he smiled. He felt so happy because he was no longer in pain and he was so grateful for everything his rescuer has done for him.
Little did Zhora know, however, that something even greater awaited him. While he recovered, Olena took the time fulfilling her promise. She shared his story on social media and lots of people fell in love with him, including his new mom.
Once issued a clean bill of health and his own pet passport, Zhora left the clinic and continued to his new forever home. He began a new journey, and this time, he was no longer alone.
