Dogs were originally taught to serve as service dogs for people with impairments, but what happens when a seeing-eye dog is being trained to serve another dog? Now that is quite interesting.
Charlie is an elderly and aging dog who needs canine help. He’d been with the Stipes family for 11 years and was beginning to show his age.
Charlie has serious glaucoma that has taken over both of his eyes, so his family has decided to adopt a companion for him. This companion was a puppy and the Stipes family discovered that the new puppy became more than just a seeing-eye dog for his older sibling, instead of just the normal connection.
Meet Maverick, a four-month-old service dog and guide dog in training. He was glued to Charlie’s side from the moment they met. They definitely became an inseparable duo!
Maverick still has to go to doggy training every now and then, but when he’s not on duty, the family regularly sees him chilling with Charlie. Maverick has become Charlie’s constant companion whether it comes to walking, playing, and even napping.
Everyone believes the four-month-old puppy has found his calling, and the Stipes family couldn’t be happier. They were overjoyed to have their two closest fur friends infuse their home with enthusiasm and doggy love.
The two puppies looked so cute together that the Stipes family decided to create an Instagram account for them so that they could share their puppy love with the rest of the world. Love like this has to be shared with everyone!
Many other dog owners in similar situations were inspired by the two of them. Not only has this resulted in more dogs being adopted, but it has also aided many older dogs to no longer be sad as they age. Dogs, blind or not, have needs as well.
