A woman once spotted a white-furred dog under the bridge that connected the village where she lived to the freeway. But the second time she saw the pup, its fur was already red. Worried that it was badly hurt, she contacted local rescuers and asked for help.
The rescue team quickly responded and sent out a few of its members to save the dog. When they saw the pup, they, too, were puzzled as to why it was red. They assumed that it bled so badly after getting hit by a car, and it also limped when it walked.
The responders asked around and those who knew the dog said they first spotted the pup a couple of months back. They all said the same thing, but one resident gave much more detailed information.
According to him, a car pulled over and left a box by the side of the road. He thought it was trash but two days later, he saw it was flipped over, and there was only one reason why a carton box would move. The pup that was inside it managed to free itself, and from that day, it wandered around the farm, waiting for its owner to come back.
Moreso, the rescuers discovered that while the dog had an injured leg, the red color that covered it wasn’t blood but pesticide. It probably strolled around the farm in search of food when it suddenly stumbled upon the chemical. And without anyone to give it a bath, the dye remained on its fur.
The team watched the dog further to know more about its behavior, and one day, they saw it cross the busy road, excited to see a woman who worked at the farm. When they asked, she said the pup was like her shadow, always behind her since the day she started feeding it. But even though they looked close to one another, it never let her come too close.
Soon, it was time to bring the pup to safety. With the help of the kind woman, the rescuers managed to secure the dog with a net. And from the rescue site, they took it straight to the vet’s office for a much-needed bath and medical care.
The dog needed to stay at the hospital for a few weeks for treatment. But once she was ready to start fresh, her new mom, the woman who took care of her for months, came and picked her up.
