Socrates lived on a college campus for several weeks. People believed someone dumped him in the area. He scavenged for food and searched for a safe place to sleep in until he wandered into the school’s yard.
A kind-hearted woman by the name of Faith Easdale fed Socrates for many weeks. She also tried to gain the dog’s trust and attempted to rescue him. But all of Faith’s effort failed, so she reached out to Hope For Paws for further help.
The moment the rescue organization received the call, their founder, Eldad Hagar, rushed to save the dog. When he arrived at the school, Faith was there, waiting for him. They agreed to use a humane trap to avoid spooking the dog, so they set up the cage and stayed at a safe distance.
Socrates smelled the aroma of the tasty treat the rescuer left for him. One by one, he ate the pieces of the cheeseburger that led him inside the cage. But while he completely made it inside, the trap failed, and the dog managed to walk away again.
Fortunately enough for the rescuers, Socrates walked back into the cage. There were a few more bites of the cheeseburger, and he decided to finish it all. In a snap, the trapping mechanism activated, and Socrates was finally secured in the cage.
Faith and Eldad slowly approached and said hi to the dog. Eldad opened the cage and secured Socrates with the Lucky Leash. When the rescuer tried to touch the dog for the first time, the pup accepted his newfound friend’s kindness.
Socrates enjoyed his spa day after receiving medical care. Once groomed, he felt so much better and lighter. He felt happy to finally be clean.
With the help of Annie Hart from The Bill Foundation, Socrates found a loving brother. Together, they left the rescue organization and joined a sweet forever home. Socrates found his happy ever after.
