A Scottish dog became famous on Twitter after refusing to leave an exceptionally comfortable bed one morning. We are all able to relate to this. This dog represents our behavior, especially on cold Monday mornings.
In the 16-second video footage, the dog’s owner can be heard urging the dog to accompany him on a stroll. Even after tempting him with food, Malcom, the snoozing dog, would not leave the comfort of his bed.
Mhairi-Louise Brennan, the dog’s owner, published the video of his father cooing over the puppy on Twitter. Now, the video has garnered online popularity, with over 260 thousand views.
As per the American Kennel Club, an average dog sleeps 12 to 14 hours every 24-hour cycle.
Like people, as puppies age, their sleep requirements increase. The senior canines fatigue easily, and additional rest improves their performance.
In the same way that children sleep soundly after exploring and playing, so do dogs after having a fantastic time.
Even breed plays a role in a dog’s sleeping routine. Larger dogs tend to take more naps than their smaller counterparts.
Due to their sedentary lifestyles and the fact that they exist solely for companionship, numerous puppies could sleep more. However, working dogs are an exception. These dogs are bred to be more active, so they require undivided attention for their duties, particularly during long shifts.
Indeed, dogs’ and humans’ sleep cycles are comparable, but humans have a longer sleep progression. As humans spend approximately 25 percent of their time in the Rapid Eye Movement (REM) phase, dogs require approximately 10 minutes to enter the REM stage.
Although dogs can fall asleep without difficulty, they are also easily aroused from sleep. Due to their inconsistent sleep schedules and lower REM rates, dogs require significantly more total sleep than humans.
