Ryan Arens is a delivery driver for American shipping company UPS who has made the news for his heroic act. The kind man put his own safety on the line to save a dog from drowning in a frozen lake.
This all just happened while he was on his route one late afternoon in the city of Bozeman. And after rescuing the dog, he went back to work as if nothing happened.
Barking like crazy
The sun was already setting down when Ryan heard a dog screaming frantically. And it seemed like it was coming from a lake nearby. He looked around but couldn’t see anything because it was getting dark. The man drove around the lake and when got to the other side, he noticed a dog trying hard to stay afloat.
The drowning pup was around 15 feet from the shore. The pooch must have been walking on the frozen lake and the ice broke. She couldn’t get out as her paws kept slipping off the ice. As a dog owner himself, Ryan knew that he had to save the dog.
He immediately got out of his delivery truck and ran towards the shore. He then stripped to his boxers ready to get in the water. But then, he saw an older man in a rowboat trying to get to the dog as well. But he wasn’t making any progress.
He got the man out of the boat and he went in. But before he can even get halfway to the poor pooch, he fell and crashed through the ice. As he was there already, he decided to swim for it. A few minutes later, he and the dog was back on land.
Grateful pup
Ryan and the pup went into the house of the older man to take a warm bath and dry up. They also called animal control and waited for them to arrive. As soon as the dog was in good hands, Ryan went back to his delivery route.
Several days later, he found out where the dog lived and it so happened that he had a delivery nearby. Ryan went to the dog owner’s house to check on the pup he saved. And as soon as the dog saw him, she rushed out to greet him. The dog, Sadie, still remembered him and was thankful to the man who saved her life.
