Chewy is a three-month-old miniature chihuahua that was left behind by her desperate owner. The poor pup was discovered inside the bathroom at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas. When he was found, Chewy was inside a bag with a sad note with him. It explained why the pup was left behind.
Domestic abuse
According to the note, Chewy’s owner was a victim of domestic abuse. She has had enough of her boyfriend’s physical attacks and decided to leave him. She had a flight but couldn’t afford to pay for her dog’s flight. It also explained that despite not wanting to leave her pet behind, it was her only option at the moment.
It further stated that the dog was abused as well. In one of their arguments, the abusive boyfriend kicked the dog, and it resulted in a lump on his head. She hoped that whoever finds her pet brings her to a vet and takes good care of her.
A new life
One of the airport staff found Chewy and, after reporting the incident to the airport authorities, decided to hand the pup over to Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue, a dog rescue organization based in Las Vegas. Taken by their story, the rescue group decided to share it on their Facebook page.
The group explained that they did it because they wanted to let Chewy’s owner know that her beloved pet is doing well and that they wish her all the luck in the world. Chewy has been taken to a vet and has been given a clean bill of health.
When people read the post, thousands of applications came in to adopt the dog. And after carefully scrutinizing each one, they found the most suitable family for him. Chewy is now living in a happy home in Las Vegas. Hopefully, his mom has found a better life too.
