About a year ago in Doha, Qatar, a woman named Johanna Handley and her daughter were on their way back home from the mall when they passed by a desert and spotted two collared dogs. Curious why such canines were there, Johanna immediately decided to investigate, and she found out that they were abandoned, along with their litter of pups.
The puppies were only about two months old then and clearly needed help. So without much thought, Johanna brought them home along with her to foster them until she could rehome them one by one. With the aid of volunteers and donations, she eventually managed to fly almost all of them to the US, where they settled in with their new families.
However, one of the puppies named Alan was a different story. He had a congenital disability that made his nose and mouth grow in the opposite direction, ultimately giving him a wonky face. When Johanna first saw him in the desert, she just knew that there was something special and beautiful about Alan.
So instead of rehoming him, Johanna decided to adopt the pup instead. However, not everyone accepted the unique Alan for what he was. Many people kept approaching the fur mom and offering to pay for the canine’s reconstructive surgery, but Johanna said it was unnecessary.
After all, when she brought him to the vet early on, the doctors informed her that Alan was completely healthy as he was and wouldn’t have any future complications. In fact, the surgery might cause him more pain than intended, as they would have to realign his face altogether.
To show the world how perfect Alan was despite his weird look, Johanna created a TikTok account for him. There, she would regularly post clips of him, featuring his sweet and loving personality.
So far, the account has garnered almost 200,000 followers, all showering Alan with positive comments and reactions. Watch the happy pup with his doting family here.
