The White House welcomed the Presidential dogs, Champ and Major, earlier this month. The two dogs had a photoshoot with United States President Joe Biden to mark the start of their stay in their new home. White House photographer Adam Schultz spearheaded the photoshoot as the two dogs enjoyed their moment with their human.
Champ and Major first visited the White House on January 24, four days after Biden got inaugurated as the new US President. Since then, the two dogs had a good feel of the place, according to press secretary Michael LaRosa.
LaRosa added that Champ is specifically enjoying his new dog bed while Major loves the big space outside where he could run around. Champ and Major became the first dogs to reside in the White House since 2016. Based on reports, former US President Donald Trump did not bring any pets with him during his stay there.
In one of his past interviews, Biden shared how their family came across the two dogs. Champ is the first one to arrive around Christmas of 2008. Biden named the dog Champ in memory of his father, who was also a dog lover. Champ is a typical pet who thirsts for the attention of his humans.
Biden said that aside from being a sweet dog, Champ is also very protective of the entire family. Champ shows this by ensuring that Biden’s family is safe whenever they are at home.
Meanwhile, Major arrived just recently when the Biden family decided to adopt him at the Delaware Humane Association (DHA) in 2018. At first, the Biden family thought that Champ would be jealous of Major’s presence. However, they were mistaken since the two dogs easily got along with each other. Although Champ and Major have different attitudes, Biden said that these differences strengthened their relationship.
