Valia Orfanidou have been rescuing animals off the streets of Greece for a few years now. She would foster the strays for a couple of months and let them get used to the life of being a pet. Once they were ready to find their loving homes, Valia would hand them over to the animal charities she volunteered in, who would then screen potential adopters.
Throughout her time as a local rescuer, Valia had encountered numerous tearjerking stories about abandoned dogs and cats on the streets. But just recently, she met her most unforgettable rescue dog yet.
That sunny day in late October, Valia was driving down a country road when unexpectedly, a black and white shepherd mix puppy came out of the bushes. The pup then immediately ran after her car, seemingly intent on following her to her destination.
Realizing the stray dog might get hit by another passing car, Valia stopped by the roadside and tried to coax the little dog to come to her. However, the pup immediately hid under the car the moment he saw the kind rescuer. When Valia stepped away to give him space, the canine came out of hiding but would retreat every time the woman came close.
The shepherd mix did this for around ten more minutes before Valia got the chance to grab him and get him in the backseat of her car. There, he immediately realized he was being rescued and was wagging his tail in delight.
Valia then brought him straight to a vet to get checked, and surprisingly, the pooch was very healthy despite his poor living conditions in the street. The rescuer took him home with her that same day and named him Bandit. He would be staying with Valia and her rescue dogs until he was ready to be adopted. Watch his adorable story here.
