The internet is full of documentation of unique friendships between dogs and other animals. There are the classic cat and dog duo (even a cheetah and a dog could be best friends), and a dog befriending a horse or some other farm animal. There’s even a dog and a rat who formed a special bond. An adorable dog chose her very own buddy – a koi fish named Frank!
Daisy, a three-year-old French Bull Dog, and her best friend, a Koi fish named Frank, formed a special bond ever since they met. Both animals are owned by the Bredy family, based in Federal Way City in Washington state. The family built a koi pond in their yard and brought in ten wonderful Kois. That’s when Daisy first saw her new brothers and sisters.
The French Bull Dog seemed to have a liking to the new brood – but one Koi caught her attention. There was an instant connection during her first meeting with Frank. According to their owner, Carrie, he did not know what sets Frank apart from the other fish – she only guessed it probably was the positive energy he emits or how he looked that caught Daisy’s eye.
Since then, the dog would beg her or any other member of the family to take her for a walk to visit Frank in the pond. She loves to bop her nose in the water. Every time she does that, Frank would swim in her direction. Carrie added that Daisy would ignore the other fishes and would give all her attention to Frank.
Similarly, Frank loves all the attention he gets from Daisy. They could not get enough of each other! The dog would constantly lick the fish, showing her affection. The cute Koi reciprocates the love by doing his own “fish kiss” Basically, that is what they do during playdates!
Carrie and the whole family are in awe of the extraordinary bond formed between their beloved pets. For others, it is a little odd to see a dog and a fish act like they are the oldest of friends. But for the Bredy family, it is proof that their household is one big home full of love – of humans, dogs, and fishes alike.
