This munchkin named Kevin has been an only child—well, dog, for more than four years. He’s been living an incredibly blissful and spoiled life with his mom Carleigh Johnson Stroup and her husband since they took him in when he was still a puppy. He’s had their full attention and love—up until recently, that is.
His parents decided that they wanted to grow their family, so they adopted another dog. They called him Lyle, and he was an absolute ball of energy. There was one problem, though: they didn’t bother asking if Kevin was okay with this.
The atmosphere in their household changed. Once upon a time, Kevin had his parents’ affection all to himself, but he now had to share everything with the rambunctious newcomer! His entire world has turned upside down because of this new fellow’s arrival, and Kevin had to bid his peace and only-child syndrome goodbye.
Like actual siblings on the bout of a conflict, Kevin felt like he had to compete with Lyle. With his new brother around, the new guy’s nuisances and exasperation was something Kevin had to deal with. Gone are the days when he had peaceful days in his territory.
Lyle had such energy! He tried to befriend his new big brother, but the latter was transparent in his reaction to his dislike of the situation. In a video posted by Carleigh, the disbelief and ‘What. Have. You. Done.’ face was discernible in Kevin’s features.
Despite this little reaction from Kevin, Lyle brought out a playful and energetic vibe to him. The newbie doesn’t hold back in expressing just how much he adores his brother. He wants to be around him all the time. He’s obsessed with Kevin!
And although it took a little time, the two eventually became inseparable. It looks like Kevin’s learned how to accept the situation and get used to having such a playful alter ego around.
Like Shakespeare once said: ‘all’s well that ends well’— and in an Instagram account managed by Carleigh featuring the two brothers, it seems like they have already bonded pretty well indeed.
Here’s to wishing you both a long and happy life with your family, Kevin, and Lyle!
