Seven years ago, a kind couple found a dog named Chance getting into a small fight with other dogs. She was a tiny puppy then, and the couple brought her to a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter, The Haven Animal Care Shelter, to get her the proper help she needed for her wounds.
According to Dr. Brenda Wilbanks, the animal care shelter’s founder and director, they took Chance to the vet clinic and had her stitched up. As a result, the poor dog has a specific character to her muzzle.
Once Chance recovered, the animal shelter hoped it would not take long to find her a beautiful, loving home – but they were wrong.
Now, Chance has been at the animal shelter for over seven years. She has lived there her whole life and has survived from puppyhood to almost her senior years without a real family. Because of her past, Chance has lots of anxiety and fear, but she has so much love and joy inside her, too. It is clear how she badly wants to show all of it to one lucky family.
Chance keeps getting ignored by potential adopters because she gets nervous around people she does not know. However, she wants to cuddle and be loved once she likes you.
Wilbanks said that Chance is very afraid and shy. She would run to the back of her cage when somebody entered. She likes walking on a leash. However, she has to be carried many times until she gets past some other dogs at the animal shelter.
When given the right time and space, Chance could form beautiful bonds with people. It isn’t easy to see that when somebody first meets her. What Chance needs above all else is for somebody to give her a chance.
Chance is surviving with shelter life, mainly because it is all she has ever known. However, everybody who knows her is so excited for the day that she will get to wander outside the animal care shelter and go on the most incredible adventures with the people who love her. At the moment, though, she is still waiting.
According to Wilbanks, Chance seems to be OK. It is the only life she has known.
Chance will do best in a silent home with no little children as she could get easily overwhelmed. She has to have a forever-loving family willing to be patient with her as she adapts to her new life. Besides, she needs pure love and a chance.
