Rescuing strays is a difficult task. Many of these dogs have had terrible interactions with humans, causing them to be terrified of human touch or even human presence. Fear will cause them to become violent, therefore rescuers must exercise extreme caution near them.
Eldad Hagar of Hope For Paws, who also has extensive experience rescuing dogs, encountered an injured pit bull that is extremely fearful and even hostile. Eldad initiated the rescue operation after receiving a call from someone requesting assistance for an injured pit bull. The caller to Eldad said that the pit bull was last spotted hobbling near an on-ramp to an interstate.
Eldad set out to locate the injured dog. The dog was lying down near to a wall and refusing to move when he encountered it. As he approached, the dog began to behave violently and began to bark. Eldad naturally attempted to calm the terrified animal by speaking softly to her. Additionally, he offered the pit bull food to gain her trust.
Eldad was eventually able to place a mild snare around its neck. By offering the pit bull food, he was able to coax her out of her den. Eldad observed the severity of the pit bull’s injuries. He decided to name the pit bull, Yara.
As Eldad led Yara to his vehicle, she eventually felt fatigued and collapsed next to it. Eldad understood that Yara’s in a lot of agony and he also knew how badly she was injured. He chained the dog to his car so he can grab a bowl of water for Yara. However, as soon as he moved his eyes off Yara, Yara began to remove the delicate snare from her neck.
Yara ultimately escaped and returned to her den. Eldad requested Loreta Frankonyte’s aid in the rescue. They were able to place two further delicate snares on Yara’s neck, and they escorted her back to their car. The two rescuers produced a cage and were able to place Yara into it.
Still belligerent, the injured dog growled at the rescuers. They were able to transport Yara to an animal hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Unfortunately, her front leg was severely crushed and irreparable. The veterinarian chose to amputate the afflicted limb.
Eldad was finally able to pet Yara after she recovered from surgery. She felt no more discomfort, which was produced by the wounded limb, and she stayed for a few more weeks for rehabilitation to learn to walk with three legs.
After a few weeks in the hospital, Yara was sent to a foster home where she learned to regain her trust in humans. Yara’s aggressiveness has vanished, and she adores her foster parents. Yara emerged from her shell and showed that she enjoys running around and playing. Despite having only three legs, Yara can still run quickly, and she adores her new home.
